The Company has specialised in planning systems and presentation equipment since its inception by the founder Werner Franken in 1974. The business has grown and Franken products are now available in many countries, with the UK the most recently entered market, although Franken planning systems were previously sold here as part of the Nobo range.

A comprehensive portfolio of planners is already being stocked by Spicers, ready for immediate delivery to dealers. These are shown on pages 234 and 235 of the 2009 Spicers catalogue and represent a range of solutions for many visual planning applications.

The Franken range includes many unique products that have been developed by the Company based on their many years of market experience. These include modular planning systems, which allow panels to be moved forward or backward as weeks / months pass or milestones are reached. A version of this system is made-up of A4 sized panels, which may then be photocopied to distribute or record the information they contain.

Another innovative planner is the Multi Function Planner. This features a clever revolving frame, which allows the same planner to be used for different applications including as an annual, monthly, two-week or weekly planner plus as a task scheduler. As with all Franken planning boards, this features a highquality enamel steel dry wipe surface, which will give many years of use.

In the presentation portfolio, the Franken range includes high quality flipchart easels that, unlike many lower-cost competitive items, are both stable and durable in use. Meanwhile, a clever portable projection screen has the cassette mounted on the vertical sides of the screen area, to keep the overall size small for portability and storage.

The Franken range also includes a number of products and systems, which are ideal for displaying performance information and data such as that needed for total quality management, lean manufacturing and competitive excellence schemes. These include magnetic frames and pockets, ideal for displaying charts, graphs and other information.

As one would expect from a German based manufacturer, the quality of Franken products is very high. Therefore, dealers can have confidence in recommending Franken items to their customers, knowing that they will give many years of service. Indeed, all products in the Franken range have a five year guarantee, with twenty-five years offered on the enamel-steel surface of appropriate planners and drywipe boards.

In addition to the products stocked at Spicers, a number of other Franken items are being warehoused in the UK, ready for immediate delivery to dealers and/or their customers. These include specialist and unique products not available elsewhere, which would certainly add something to a dealer's product portfolio.

Although Franken products are available to any UK dealer, the Company is looking to recruit specialist suppliers who will pro-actively promote the planning systems and the Company's higherend presentation products. These will receive product training, sales support and promotional materials to assist them in marketing and selling the Franken range.

Manuel Franken, Werner's son, is spearheading the launch into the UK. Meanwhile, seasoned industry professionals, Mike James (ex Esselte) and Martyn Billing (ex Nobo) are assisting Franken with their introduction to the UK market with sales and marketing activities respectively. Indeed, a promotional campaign is already underway with advertisements being designed, attendance at the SOPX show and a dedicated website in the latter stages of production.
